What is Installation Manager and how can it help me?

 Overview

The Installation Manager is a dedicated Windows desktop application for system administrators to deploy and maintain SurePassID Authentication Server environments. It provides a single, centralized console for executing in-place upgrades, applying maintenance releases, managing configuration settings, and performing encryption key rotation.

Why use it?

This tool is valuable for maintaining any SurePassID installation and is especially effective for automating upgrades and updates in air-gapped, cloud-gapped, and OT environments where internet connectivity is not permitted.

The Installation Manager serves as the primary administrative tool for:

  • In-Place Upgrades: Upgrading existing installations to newer versions while automatically managing database backups, system backups, database schema changes, and application code updates.

  • Configuration Synchronizing configuration files between installations—for example, keeping a new version and an older version aligned when they are run side-by-side prior to an upgrade.

  • Maintenance Releases: Applying patches and updates to current installations. Automatically handles system back-ups, and updating the system code. 

  • Key Rotation: Rotating system encryption keys in the SurePassID configuration files.
