If you have an application where users will need to receive an automatic push notification via our RADIUS server service and you are using OTP only (RADIUS is for the second factor only), then here is what you need to do.
- Update your instance of our RADIUS server service to this version or later:
- Build 2024.2.9307.188c (06-25-25) available here: RADIUS Patch with OTP Auto Push
- Extract the contents of the patch.
- Stop the RADIUS Server Service and wait 30 seconds or more for it to close out.
- Make a quick backup of the config.xml file from c:\programdata\surepassid to be safe and a backup copy of the "c:\program files (x86)\SurePassID Corp\SurePassID RADIUS Server 2024" (or similar) folder.
- Copy the contents of the patch into the RADIUS folder, overwriting the existing files.
- Start the configuration tool and check the settings / set them as shown below, then start the RADIUS Server Service and test.
Set the User Directory options to "None - Only Authenticate OTP":
Select the highlighted security options as follows:
Using the above settings with the updated version of the SurePassID RADIUS Server Service will allow you to make RADIUS requests that result in a push approval notice to the user's mobile app for approval.
You will want to be sure that the authentication timeout on RADIUS clients is set to a sufficiently high value to allow time for processing. We recommend starting with a timeout setting of 30 seconds.
